AZDOT Closes Sunset Point Rest Area
Water supply problem forces closure of popular Interstate 17 Rest Area north of Phoenix
CORDES JUNCTION, Arizona – Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) crews have closed the popular Sunset Point rest area, located between Phoenix, Arizona and Flagstaff, Arizona at Milepost 252 on Interstate 17. ADOT expects the rest area to reopen sometime on August 5th.
The closure was prompted by a water supply problem at the rest area.
Travelers will need to seek services at Cordes Junction, north of the rest area, or Black Canyon City, south of the city. There are no services in nearby Bumble Bee or Crown King.
